Autodesk builds awareness on ‘Building Information Modeling’ for channel partners

Autodesk, Inc., a 3D design software focused organization has recently hosted Lee Miller, Vice President and Director of building, SMART Implementation,  HOK  (global design, architecture, engineering and planning firm) in an initiative to promote awareness on the benefits of BIM to Indian construction and infrastructure industry.

As a part of this initiative, Autodesk organized exclusive events across three cities (Bangalore, New Delhi and Mumbai) with Lee as a key speaker with an objective to educate the industry stakeholders and channel partners on the need for adoption of 3D design technologies like Building Information Modeling (BIM) in India’s infrastructure sector.

These events were attended by architects, engineers, builders, and partners. During the event, Sunil MK, Head – AEC, Autodesk, India & SAARC along with Lee and other industry stalwarts had interactive discussions sharing their views on the need for technology (BIM) adoption in India.

BIM is an integrated process that helps architects, engineers, builders and owners explore a project’s key physical and functional characteristics digitally before it is built—helping them gain valuable insight to improve the way projects are planned, designed, built and managed.  It helps reduce risk, optimize design, deliver more successful, and predictable project outcomes. BIM improves collaboration, efficiency and performance in planning and design phase, during construction, in post-build savings and for ongoing operational management.

Lee Miller is a great advocate of BIM and has worked on a wide variety of projects, including commercial, health care, interiors, aviation, justice, and urban design. He has been involved in large infrastructure projects in India like the T3 Delhi and Bangalore airport.

Expressing his views on the event, Sunil MK, Head – AEC, Autodesk, India & SAARC said, “Autodesk pioneered BIM technology with a vision of transforming the construction and infrastructure industries by enabling and empowering designers, architects and engineers. It is great to have industry stalwarts like Lee Miller to drive the message of the need for adoption of BIM in India. HOK has an illustrious history of revolutionizing the industry with groundbreaking projects and designs and we were glad to have Lee amidst us to share his experiences with Indian industry.”

“India is a promising market for adoption of BIM and I would like to thank Autodesk for giving me this opportunity to address the industry stakeholders on the growing need for this technology in Indian construction and infrastructure industry,” said Lee Miller, Vice President and Director of building, SMART Implementation, HOK. “BIM is going to be the key determining factor of all crucial projects, big or small, at any scale whatsoever. Autodesk BIM technology has helped firms to solve complex design problems related to infrastructure and construction projects with relative ease and we are hopeful about its adoption by the industry in India.”
