How SPs can deliver storage agility and help enterprise

At a time when data has become an engine to drive enterprise ahead, storing of this enormous amount of data has become a challenge for enterprise. In such a scenario, solution providers and system integrators can position themselves as architects of storage solutions and deliver much needed storage agility to gain traction within the enterprise universe.

With most of the enterprise data flowing on the digital side, storage capacity demands are further set to grow at a staggering pace, and keeping this in mind, winning enterprise strategies must deliver agility to the business in order to crate big value.

Industry experts also believe that the amount of data created and stored will grow 50-fold during the course of this decade. And it is surely not just the production of data that is growing quickly, there is a lot of focus being given to backup and archiving data as well.

In this scenario enterprise look for specialized storage solutions that can utilize technologies such as—thin provisioning, snapshotting, deduplication and automated tiering—to address their rising capacity challenges and systems integrators can create special space for themselves by providing such storage solutions.

It is a fact that in today’s fast paced enterprise world, the traditional and sometimes, the legacy hard disk drive (HDD) storage infrastructure is struggling to meet the speed and performance needed for many of today’s most critical applications, including online transaction processing (OLTP), virtualization and big data analytics. This is paving way for a need to have agile storage systems in place.

And hence, small and big enterprises are now turning towards the segment of flash storage for some of these applications, however flash is not the final answer to solve such issues. Therefore, it becomes a big opportunity for a systems integrator or solution provider to create a flexible storage system for enterprise using best of both the worlds from flash and traditional storage – a flexible architecture that can deploy flash in combination with legacy storage.

Next generation business applications such as cloud systems, virtualization and business analytics can thrive better on such flexible and agile storage systems and create increasing opportunities for the enterprise world.
