5 technology trends that can drive Channel Business in 2015

By Zia Askari

When it comes to year 2015, Next Gen Networking, emergence of Third Platform, GPON solutions, reselling cloud solutions and offering Hybrid IT solutions for the enterprise can help solution providers create more value for their customers and increase on their profitability.

Tech-Trends-2015

As enablers of technology solutions for their end customers, solution providers and system integrators must identify the right technology trends and piece together the puzzle to best fit their own and their enterprise or SMB customer needs.

With a number of new age technology trends reaching critical mass, it is quite difficult to select the right one for the customers. However, it is very important that solution providers be able to identify all the latest trends and create better value for their end customers as well as move up the value chain on their vendor relationships.

We at ChannelDrive.in are presenting five of the most important technology trends that Indian Solution Providers should look forward to in the year 2015.

The Emergence of Networked Economy

As our connected world continues to mature (up to 75 billion devices will be Internet-enabled by 2020), we are developing new ways for machines to work together. In the so-called Networked Economy, there will be unparalleled collaboration, productivity and innovation opportunities for solution providers to create wining formulas and continuously add value for their customer’s needs.

Solutions around multiple devices talking to each other, delivering services, applications and solutions will hold the key to succeed in this scenario and solution providers must embrace themselves in a better manner to gain from this trend.

The Emergence of Third Platform

The emergence of third platform cannot be ignored. As per the IDC, the Third Platform—the loosely defined shift toward mobility, social business, cloud and big data/analytics—will drive up to 90 percent of IT industry growth from 2013 through 2020.

Additionally, more than half of the enterprises have adopted some form of cloud services now, and about 70 percent of CIOs will embrace a cloud-first strategy when looking at IT by 2016.

The biggest opportunity for solution providers lies where many companies struggle to make the most of their cloud strategy. A solution provider can create big value in terms of identifying and implementing the right tools for their enterprise customers, of monitoring application performance and maximizing value from their customer’s IT investments.

Convergence and Emergence of GPON

This is an era of convergence of technologies and applications. And as the way becomes clear for ‘Fibre To The Home’ or FTTH – solution providers hold a big chance to add value in terms of offering convergence driven GPON solutions for their customers.

The clear advantage of PON or Passive Optical Networks generally is that a single shared optical fiber can support multiple users through the use of inexpensive passive optical splitters.

In GPON networks, up to 64 ONTs can share one fiber connection to the OLT. This makes GPON an attractive option for service providers wanting to replace copper networks with fiber, particularly in high-density urban areas and solution providers hold a big chance to create the much needed market differentiation in terms of offering systems integration on GPON within India.

Reselling Cloud Services

Reselling cloud services is another big technology trend that can redefine the way channel business moves up the value chain.

Aligning themselves with cloud service providers in India, ‘cloud partners’ can challenge the market forces in new ways and create better value proposition for their enterprise and SMB customers.

Delivering Hybrid IT

Whether it’s a small or large business, there is a great demand for the hybrid IT model wherein enterprise customers will embrace cloud adoption but at their own pace and would be more interested in — on premises, private and public cloud. Solution providers need to find the right balance in terms of offering the right hybrid solutions for their customers that suit their business in a perfect manner.

Happy New Year 2015

These are some of the technologies that are set to create their own mark on the coming year 2015 and place solution providers on the right corners of growth. Happy New Year!
