Business Process as a service takes the cloud route

With more and more enterprise customers moving towards the cloud era, differentiated Business platforms (BPaaS) are being offered as a service not only to drive IT and BPO services surrounding the platform but also in order to create differentiations that are difficult for competition to replicate. And this is pushing cloud computing towards an all pervasive Enterprise era on the fast lane.

As a result, technology and business process integration services are happening within an enterprise across composite applications and across Public, Private and Hybrid Cloud environments. And today it is a critical need for any Cloud implementation within an enterprise environment.

Hence there is an opportunity to create standardized interface process and data modeling around ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) spanning multi-cloud environment can create non-linear revenue models for Cloud Service provider. Monitoring and keeping audit trail of all ‘in-memory’ running blocks of a Cloud infrastructure will ensure compliance, quick restoration in case of break in service and ensure Business Continuity.

Security controls at Cloud infrastructure, application and business process layers with access control, authentication, fire-walling and providing encryption option for data stored in servers can be implemented. Application penetration testing conducted by third party and reporting the results of such tests can further improve Security control and Governance of Cloud infrastructure of Service provider External Certification such as SAS 70 and allowing random and periodic audits can further add credence and confidence of both the Service Provider and the paying customer.

Additionally, developing capability to deliver BPaaS (Business Process as a Service) will be key differentiated service that a systems integrator can provide to its set of enterprise focused customer. With industry domain insights and ability to offer IT and BPO services on a common platform will determine the future cloud winners among the IT systems integration fraternity.

A system integrator can also offer and run the entire “After Sales” Business Process for an automotive company as a BPaaS offering. Apart from the providing the technology platform that manages the ‘after-sale’ process including customer warranty claims management, capturing service history will require an integrated IT-BPO capability that only an SI can offer. This is where the real opportunities are. Moving forward this trend is likely to grow even further.
