Computex 2017: ASUS Unveils Intel-Powered Always Connected PC “Kukuna”

At Computex, ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih joined Gregory Bryant, Intel senior vice president and general manager of the Client Computing Group, to unveil ASUS’s always connected PC, code-named “Kukuna.”

Powered by Intel® Core™ processors and Intel LTE connectivity, ASUS’s super thin, lightweight and stylish 2 in 1 is the latest example in a category of PCs that Intel’s leaders believe will become increasingly relevant as data plan costs decrease and people’s desires for access from any location at any time increases.

This ASUS design joins more than 30 other always connected PCs on the market today. The Samsung* Galaxy Book*, Mi Notebook Air* 13.3” and Lenovo* ThinkPad L470* are other great examples with powerful Intel performance, full Windows* experiences, instant accessibility from anywhere thanks to world-class connectivity and long battery life in amazingly thin, light PCs. These PCs will meet the needs of individuals or professionals who require access to the full PC experience on their terms.

Intel is investing in eSIM and LTE technologies, and its leaders are working closely with Microsoft* to validate eSIM-enabled always connected platforms with multiple carriers using the Intel® XMMTM 7260 modem and the upcoming Intel XMM 7360 modem. This joint work is another layer of Intel’s Project EVO collaboration announced at WinHEC* in December to move computing to a new level – one where PCs are capable of even more unbelievable things, including smarter voice inputs, mixed/merged reality experiences for all, powerful gaming innovations, strengthened security and identity protection, and true, always connected experiences.

We expect to see more innovation in this category, and that is why Intel each year delivers a comprehensive portfolio of innovative technologies that make powerful computing possible from anywhere, including Intel Core processors, Intel Optane™ memory and connectivity technologies. Going forward, our efforts in establishing new standards and technologies will also be an essential step toward realizing the full potential of 5G for the expanding interconnectedness of devices and things.
