2019 Smart City Summit & Expo Highlights Big Opportunities in Smart Cities Enablement

Taiwan’s Smart City focused mega event – 2019 edition of Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE) is showcasing the country’s tech innovation prowess in the area of smart city enablement and highlighting big opportunities for the channel partner communities in the space of smart city.

From telecom operators such as Chungwa Telecom to FarEas Tone to organizations such as ASKEY, AVer Information Inc, Tatung etc are exhibiting their innovations in the digital communications space.

The sixth edition of 2019 Smart City Summit & Expo has opened on Tuesday (March 26) in Taipei, carrying a unique confluence of more than 300 exhibitors – including many from International markets such as Great Britain, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany etc and about 1,200 booths offering burgeoning business opportunities in communications, transportation, health, architecture, and education space.

Welcoming visiting foreign dignitaries and business community, Taiwan’s Vice President, Chen Chien-jen highlighted the importance of the development being done around smart city technologies and related applications in Taipei.

“We are willing to share our unique experiences in the development of smart city technologies with the world and this can help in developing more smart cities,” he explained.

Approximately 1,700 overseas participants from 45 countries will take part in the four-day mega exhibition focused specifically towards the development of Smart Cities. Most important, this unique event is also hosting 128 city mayors as part of its Mayors’ Summit program.

The expo and summit is focused towards highlighting the growing importance of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) applications, smart city surveillance, Narrow-Band IoT, education during its four-day run.

The SCSE is organized by the Taipei City government, the Taiwan Smart City Solutions Alliance and the Taipei Computer Association (TCA).

One of the biggest highlights of this year’s SCSE is the “AI 50” campaign, in which AI startups which are less than five years old from around the world have been invited by the organizers to demonstrate their smart city innovations.
