With an aim to increase its focus towards targeting the burgeoning opportunities in the e-governance and smart cities enablement segments within India, EION Wireless, a Ottawa, Canada based company focused towards wireless segment is set to partner with Mumbai based Adino Telecom.
“We provide Internet connectivity to rural communities and smart cities. We are a P2P and P2MP wireless communication service provider. We have been doing business in India for the past 10 – 15 years. We have done business with the Government of Gujarat, BSNL, Tata group and then RCOM is also a customer for us. So in total, we have about 100,000 links in India,” explained, Dr Anand Srinivasan, Chief Technology Officer, EION Wireless.
Dr Srinivasan has come to India, as part of a special business delegation from Ottawa – in the leadership of Jim Watson, Mayor of Ottawa, Canada.
Speaking about the opportunities in the e-governance and the smart city enablement space, he mentioned that India has a huge opportunity of connecting the unconnected rural communities and creation of smart cities.
“We are going to sign up with Adino Telecom as our strategic partner for e-governance, smart city and enabling connectivity for rural and remote communities. We are a partner driven organisation and have about 165 partners around the world and about 10 partners in India. Based in Mumbai, Adino will be our only strategic partner focusing on the above mentioned specific segments in India,” he added.
