Oracle MICROS Extension Helps Restaurants on Eat Out to Help Out Scheme

The UK government recently announced the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme to incent consumers to eat in restaurants and other establishments.

The scheme provides a discount on meals for all diners (including children) purchased on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday during August. Making it easy for restaurants to properly take advantage of this initiative, Oracle Food and Beverage is providing a free extension for Oracle MICROS Simphony Point of Sale (POS) customers. Installed quickly in the cloud, the add-on will enable the proper reporting and tracking of the discount which needs to be relayed to the government.

“The Eat Out to Help Out Scheme is a great example of creativity and desire to help our industry rebuild in the wake of current events,” said Tim Brown, vice president of solution engineering at Oracle Food and Beverage. “Starting now, MICROS Simphony customers can get the extension remotely via the cloud, ensuring they are ready to serve customers without any limitations or messy back end manual calculation to worry about.”

The goal of the initiative is to increase restaurant traffic on the days of the week where business is slower, and help businesses rebound and rebuild. To take advantage of the programme, restaurants must track and claim the discount back from the government, following specific protocols and documentation. With MICROS Simphony, all that information will be recorded in the POS system automatically.
