SiMa.ai Expands Engineering Team in Bengaluru

SiMa.ai™, the machine learning company enabling high-performance compute at the lowest power for embedded edge applications, has announced a new design center in Bengaluru, India.

The investment in the new site will bolster the company’s engineering and operations team, opening up new in-region job opportunities for board development, operations, infrastructure, and system application roles.

The growth beyond Silicon Valley and Serbia will give SiMa.ai a solid foundation with engineering talent in India to jump-start the productization of SiMa.ai’s MLSoC™ platform, while scaling the team for next-generation product development.

Krishna Rangasayee, founder and CEO of SiMa.ai, who has over 30 years of experience in scaling new businesses in the semiconductor industry said, “The embedded edge market is ripe for disruption and machine learning has moved from nice to have to must-have. Our vision is to build our customers an innovative ML platform that ultimately helps scale the widespread adoption across important embedded edge applications, such as robotics, medical, and autonomous vehicles. The expansion into India is pivotal as we prepare to deliver the industry’s first purpose-built machine learning SoC.”

SiMa.ai’s engineering team

SiMa.ai’s engineering team in India will report to Gopal Hegde, senior vice president, Engineering and Operations. Hegde stated, “We go where outstanding engineers are located. Bengaluru has a talent pool of highly qualified and experienced engineers and our expansion into the region is a strategic move as we grow our engineering organization. To this end, I’m excited to introduce our site leadership — Sudershan Vuruputoor, head of hardware development and Amit Kumar Mitra, head of software development.”

A silicon designer by training, Vuruputoor brings tremendous experience in building and scaling silicon design teams. Previously, he started, built, and scaled India development centers for On Semiconductor and Aptina and held senior engineering leader positions at Nvidia, AMD, and Analog Devices.

Mitra will drive the software development strategy at SiMa.ai. Previously, he was at Mercedes Benz India where he was instrumental in establishing Centers of Excellence (CoE) for data engineering and leading teams of computer vision and high-definition mapping for highly automated driving.

SiMa.ai’s MLSoC platform

SiMa.ai’s MLSoC platform environment enables the widespread adoption of ML at the embedded edge by supporting any model, any neural network, any framework for any workload. Any resolution and any frame rate that comes through any sensor is efficiently compiled by the software and effectively deployed on the purpose-built machine learning device.

The embedded edge market is a massive $1T+ market that’s been surviving on old technology for decades. Read the blog by SiMa.ai’s founder and CEO to learn why 2021 Will Be the Year of Machine Learning Scaling at the Embedded Edge.
