HDS to Provide ‘Hitachi Cloud – Compute as a Service’ Inside Equinix Data Centers

Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), has announced an agreement with Equinix, Inc., the global interconnection and data center company, to provide enterprises with a Hitachi Cloud — Compute as a Service solution that delivers managed private cloud services inside Equinix International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers.

Many enterprise CIOs are faced with the need to shift to public clouds for better agility and economics but struggle to ensure mission-critical applications achieve the secure and stringent service level requirements of the business. Working with HDS, enterprises are able to combine the platforms, software and managed solutions required to create a private cloud infrastructure that is scalable, cost effective and high performance to meet the demands of today’s business environment. The fully managed, secure, on-premise cloud solution also shifts the investment from up-front costs associated with traditional technology deployments to outcome-based, pay-as-you-go pricing.

“Equinix was a logical partner to extend customer value for our Hitachi Cloud — Compute as a Service offering,” said Emmanuel Goutallier, vice president and general manager, managed cloud solutions, Hitachi Data Systems. “Together with Equinix, we achieve a true hybrid cloud solution that provides end-to-end elastic solutions that leverage the best of both private and public cloud. With data centers throughout the globe, Equinix was a great fit for our global customers who were interested in the flexibility, agility and economic advantage provided by our managed cloud solution.”

By partnering with Equinix, HDS offers fully managed, enterprise-grade services for private cloud solutions from a global footprint of Equinix IBX data centers in 32 markets around the globe. The variety of interconnection solutions for cloud and network service providers available inside Equinix, including the Equinix Cloud Exchange, gives HDS customers the ability to achieve sophisticated hybrid cloud solutions.

“To achieve optimal performance and cost benefits in the cloud, enterprises are actively consolidating IT assets, positioning systems within strategically located data centers and ensuring access to multiple cloud providers,” said Jim Poole, vice president, global service provider, Equinix. “This partnership with HDS helps companies achieve cloud success by offering fully managed enterprise platforms that are delivered within secure, highly available IBX data centers around the world.”
