How SMAC is Gaining Importance for Next Gen Enterprise?

There is no doubt that technologies such as Social networking, mobile applications, analytics tools and usage of cloud computing have been propelling the IT industry ahead for past several years. But in last couple of years, this combination of technologies also known as SMAC, together is transforming the way enterprise implement IT and integrate IT with their business models.

Today, there is no doubt that SMAC is disrupting the enterprise world and redefining the way they look at their productivity levels. Technology led improvements in this technology stack, are adding value to new areas of enterprise business.

SMAC-Enterprise

Driven by a whole new dimension of technology led productivity, SMAC is now setting a new footing towards delivering the promise of better productivity enhancements in the form of – predicting future (Analytics), available anywhere (Mobile), everything so simple and networked (Social), and at a fraction of price (Cloud).

So as a result, an enterprise such as retail (for instance Flipkart or Snapdeal in India) can better understand their customer’s behavioral patterns and hence create better synergies between their supply and demands cycles, or an enterprise can predict when its core switch holds biggest chance to failure and hence employ better IT resources in order to avoid downtimes.

As a result of these scenarios, this new technology stack has started transforming tomorrow’s enterprise and has a bigger impact on each of the areas of an enterprise, hence subsequently on all the software applications used within and by the organizations.

According to Gartner’s predictions, by 2017, SMAC stack will drive more than 26% of the total enterprise software market revenue, an increase from 12% in 2012 – representing over $104 billion new revenue from this stack. Moving forward, next generation enterprise will have to create better IT led productivity regime and SMAC stack will be playing a key role in this segment.
