Speaking on the sidelines of Mobile World Congress 2016 – Abhijit Junagade, Co-Founder, Winjit Technologies speaks with Zia Askari from ChannelDrive.in about the company’s current focus and how it is brining to life, new age innovation around IoT.
What are the big priorities for Winjit today?
The biggest priority for Winjit today is enhancing IoT products and services. With the decade long of our journey concentrating on enterprise mobility, we have developed enough IP. Therefore venturing into IoT was right and organic way ahead.
For IoT we are partnering with the developers community and business entities to develop the right eco system. This as we believe, is the key for Internet of Things, it will enable the end customer to have maximum utility of our services and help us stay ahead of competition.
How do you look at the emerging importance of IoT space today? How is Winjit positioning itself to help operators gain more from IoT space?
IoT today has significant importance in technology. Machines are getting smarter. Winjit is working on its IoT platform called Winjit IoT Gateway Device Management also called as Winjit IoT GDM. We are a technology company currently focused more on the solution and software side. There are various players emerging in the IoT hardware space. We are actively partnering and working with the major ones. For operators they can work with us in special field projects to manage their IOT implementations and investments.
Winjit IoT GDM is a platform which empowers the development, deployment & management of smart & secure IoT solutions. It connects with any cloud with the flexibility to innovate and transform business at an economical cost. It can be deployed across verticals with multiple operating systems and protocols. Winjit IoT GDM not only connects new systems but also legacy devices which enables seamless and secure data flow between edge devices and the cloud through pre-integrated, pre-validated hardware and software building blocks.
Please share some of the innovations coming from Winjit side in the IoT space?
Winjit IoT GDM has features which are the true differentiating factors. The primary and the most important innovation we have is that our platform is built on an open source API which will provide developers and enterprises to have custom made solutions for their particular needs. We are also providing end-to-end security management which will enable enterprise with high level of security in their data collection and transfer. Actionable triggers and notification can be created even at local levels i.e., in the platform which will reduce the latency of implementation to a great level. Winjit IoT GDM does not only have live data streaming to cloud but also offline data storage at local level. Due to offline data storage Winjit IoT GDM can also facilitate scheduled data streaming to cloud.
What are the challenges that you are facing and how can these challenges be transformed into opportunities?
The current technology that people are relating to is IoT at home level. The implementation is highest in that industry with smart home being the centre when we talk about IoT. Winjit has its focus and concentration on industrial IOT. As we are one of the few companies in India who have ventured into IoT at enterprise level, we are capitalizing on the first movers’ advantage.
What is the level of growth that you are expecting from this segment and where is this growth likely to come from?
Winjit IoT GDM as stated earlier is easily adaptable across industry. The main reason for this being is that it is built on an open source API. And since our concentration is on industrial IOT and enterprise level implementations, most of the growth will come from these areas – mainly manufacturing, logistics, retail, and healthcare.
Please share details about your key geographies that you are targeting? What are your plans to increase your global reach?
Key Geographies would be India, China, Middle East and Africa. We are working with partners to reach major markets around the world with an innovative business partner program where we train partners in our IOT Lab at Bangalore and help them with their Pilots implementations hands on.
