Rockwell Automation, Microsoft announce new technology integrations

Rockwell Automation, Inc., the world’s largest company dedicated to industrial automation and digital transformation, announces its collaboration with Microsoft on three technological innovations which will be presented at the Hannover Messe from April 22 to 26.

“The partnership between Rockwell and Microsoft is part of a shared vision to create and deliver high-performance solutions to empower the future of industrial operations,” said Nicole Denil, global vice-president. president, Market Access, Rockwell Automation. “We simplify how manufacturing companies design, operate and maintain their businesses and empower their employees. Visitors to the Rockwell booth hosted in the Microsoft Space at the Hannover Messe will learn how Rockwell Automation helps large industrial companies around the world reduce waste from their operations and achieve their sustainability goals with streamlined industrial solutions.”

With Rockwell’s FactoryTalk edge and cloud solutions, manufacturing companies bring together artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) and automation solutions that empower their people, their processes and their technology to work seamlessly between physical and digital environments. With Microsoft Azure’s adaptive cloud approach , these businesses can unify and streamline siled teams, locations, and systems while scaling applications and information. Together, Rockwell and Microsoft will deliver cutting-edge industrial transformation solutions deployed across the value chain at speed and scale, combining AI-powered design, connected data and production optimization agile.

Additionally, the recently announced partnership between NVIDIA, Rockwell and Microsoft will enable the creation, real-time management and simulation of digital twins accelerated through the use of Microsoft’s cloud technology and AI-powered tools.

Finally, thanks to the integration of Rockwell Automation’s Plex production management system (MES) with FactoryTalk® DataMosaix™ and Microsoft Cloud for Manufacturing solutions , manufacturing companies benefit from disruptive artificial intelligence (AI) tools which help to increase productivity, safety and quality. These tools are designed to resolve quality issues by analyzing the root causes and taking appropriate corrective action.

These and other key technologies will be on display at the Rockwell booth hosted in the Microsoft Space at the Hannover Messe (Hall 17, Stand G06).

Bringing the smart factory to life

Several innovative presentations will demonstrate how integrating digital twins and generative AI reduces time to market as companies and systems scale. One of the presentations will explain how to connect digital and physical assets in the context of autonomous smart factories using digital design combining digital twin simulation and differentiated artificial intelligence with FactoryTalk Design Studio Copilot to enable users to experience operations simplified industrial applications.

A simulation of a quality inspection process inspired by Rockwell customer Nestlé using digital twins will also be revealed. This digital simulation will be enriched by the physical installation of a product sorting and autonomous handling system for packaging materials. Sorting on the production line will be represented by the digital twin of a factory, reproducing the manufacturing of a Nestlé product.

An OTTO 100 Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) developed by OTTO Motors by Rockwell Automation will illustrate the movement of packaged materials in a factory, showing how automating this operation helps increase production flow and productivity. employees. The final part of the system will present analytical dashboards of production activities in Microsoft Azure, highlighting the output of real-time contextualized data to the cloud.

“Manufacturing companies are constantly looking for ways to accelerate modernization, maximize efficiency and reduce costs ,” says Dominik Wee, corporate vice president, Manufacturing and Mobility at Microsoft. “By combining Microsoft’s AI capabilities and trusted cloud platform with Rockwell’s industrial automation solutions, these companies will have the tools they need to achieve these goals faster and create the smart factories of the future.”

Demonstrate the power of Azure’s adaptive cloud approach

Rockwell is also an integral part of Microsoft’s flagship exhibition at the Hannover Messe, where visitors will be able to step inside an environment for designing, operating and maintaining the factories of the future.

Manufacturing companies will learn how to optimize agile manufacturing, AI-powered decision-making, and repeatable transformation at scale using an adaptive cloud approach to unify people, data, and systems. To realize this vision, Microsoft is using several hardware and software solutions developed by Rockwell Automation, as well as technologies from the Rockwell Automation PartnerNetwork™ partner ecosystem.
