Kyndryl, Start Campus Partner to Drive IT Services

Kyndryl, the world’s largest provider of Information Technology (IT) infrastructure services, and Start Campus, the company responsible for developing the SINES Project — a 495 MW hyperscale data center development — have signed an agreement for Kyndryl to provide design, implementation and management of Information Technology (IT) security and data network services for Start Campus’s SINES Project operations.

Kyndryl will be monitoring the critical IT and real-time Operational Technology (OT)environments present on Start Campus’ data center campus. Monitoring systems and protocols will be implemented, making it possible to track the operation of these essential and critical environments for large-scale data processing in real-time.

This way, it will be possible to identify irregularities, failures, or security threats, ensuring the protection and full operation of the IT/OT systems on campus.

“Constant and comprehensive monitoring of the entire data ecosystem plays a key role in maintaining the integrity, availability and security of critical digital infrastructure, contributing to the efficiency and success of SINES Project operations, one of the largest hyperscale data center developments in Europe,” says Afonso Salema, CEO of Start Campus. “This partnership with Kyndryl, which we are very proud of, puts our project at the forefront in terms of security at a time when cybersecurity is of critical and central importance.”

The new services provided by Kyndryl will allow Start Campus to take advantage of expertise in its Security and Resiliency and Network and Edge practices.

Start Campus expects this partnership with Kyndryl to strengthen its positioning as an international data company with a focus on Europe, the Americas and Africa. Kyndryl has expertise in offering international services and prowess in various markets across the globe due to its geographical location and will aid Start Campus in expanding its sustainability goals across the world. Both companies see a huge opportunity to, by working together, elevate both business strategy and results.

“The project’s environmental nature, with the goal of providing revolutionary and innovative data center technology powered by 100% renewable energy, brought even more motivation from Kyndryl‘s teams to participate in this project,” says Paulo Coelho, Practices Leader at Kyndryl Portugal.
