Dell Technologies has announced that Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan Attorneys (LKS), one of India’s leading full-service law firms, is transforming how legal services are delivered using a proprietary AI legal assistant built using Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA.
The solution gives LKS lawyers on-demand access to the firm’s proprietary legal knowledge, regulatory updates, case laws and statutes enabling faster, more precise legal support for clients across India and beyond. The firm is setting a new benchmark for how law firms in India adopt enterprise AI to drive accuracy and competitive advantage.
Why it matters
For over 40 years, LKS has built deep expertise across taxation, intellectual property, corporate and regulatory laws. It serves thousands of clients, where outcomes can put millions of dollars and reputations at stake. As regulatory volume surged and the firm sought to expand its footprint, traditional research approaches became harder to sustain. LKS recognized that adopting AI with the right discipline and governance was essential.
Using the Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA, LKS developed an AI legal research assistant that enables focussed legal research, accurate summarisation, precedent mapping and improved access to internal knowledge. This helps LKS lawyers work more efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and trust.
A production-ready AI legal research assistant
LKS selected the Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA as the foundation for its AI assistant because it delivers the performance required for large-scale AI workloads deployed on premises to give the firm direct control over its data and infrastructure, a requirement in a regulated legal practice. Dell Services supported this initiative, from advisory and architecture through infrastructure configuration, platform implementation, testing and handover.
Deployed on premise to give the firm direct control over its data and infrastructure, non-negotiable in a regulated legal practice, LKS’ AI foundation includes Dell PowerEdge XE-Series servers powered by the NVIDIA accelerated computing platform. The Dell PowerEdge R-Series servers support core application services, while Dell PowerScale provides scalable storage for the expanding legal corpus.
Dell PowerSwitch help maintain consistent performance across the environment as the firm expands its AI use and its practice. Powering the switches is Enterprise SONiC Distribution by Dell Technologies, an open, scalable and AI-optimized network OS that complements the open-source stack LKS already had in place for orchestration and DevOps.
Reshaping how legal advisory is delivered
The legal AI assistant reads the firm’s repositories of proprietary legal knowledge, regulatory updates, case laws and statutes to provide answers with clear citations. Lawyers can move from question to precedent-backed insight with a meaningful improvement in the time spent on manual search. The assistant enables consistent availability of the firm’s institutional knowledge for every matter.
The long-term vision of the firm is to shift from research-heavy workflows to an intelligence-enabled practice, where lawyers spend more time on legal reasoning, advocacy and providing quality legal advice. With easy access to the firm’s collective expertise, the consistency and quality of advice across locations would be enhanced.
Automating thousands of IP workflows with agentic AI
Over the coming months, LKS plans to roll out multiple agentic AI use cases including IP research, back-office process intelligence, client intelligence-driven workflows and natural language processing and analytics dashboards. This lays the foundation for a comprehensive, AI-enabled legal platform.
In its intellectual property practice alone, the firm processes up to 2,000 emails every week. This work will soon be automated using agentic AI systems powered by Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA, enabling AI agents that can understand, route and act on incoming requests.
“Many of the legal problems that we face are complex and unstructured, yet our expectation is to provide consistent and timely legal advice. With Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA, we now have the accelerated computing performance, scalability and security required to operationalize AI across the core of our legal practice. This solution is helping us move from traditional research-heavy workflows to an intelligence-led model that delivers faster, more precise, and more contextual advice to our clients,” said, L Badri Narayanan, executive partner, LKS.
“As organizations across sectors embrace AI, we remain focussed on equipping them with reliable and scalable solutions to drive innovation and efficiency. Professional services firms like LKS operate in environments where accuracy, trust, and speed are non-negotiable. Dell AI Factory provides the enterprise-grade foundation needed to deploy AI responsibly at scale helping organizations turn complex data into actionable intelligence while maintaining security, performance, and control,” commented, Venkat Sitaram, senior director and country head, Infrastructure Solutions Group, India, Dell Technologies.
